GET VAXED: A first-of-its-kind audio game to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine uptake and confidence
Save the Children Nepal in partnership with VIAMO and the Center for Utilization of Behavior Insights (CUBIC) have launched a first-of-its-kind SBC informed audio game ‘GET VAXED’ to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine uptake and confidence. The gamification action is a part of Save the Children Nepal’s Social & Behavior Change (SBC) work utilizing technology to positively nudge young people, parents, caregivers, especially from the hard-to-reach areas to get themselves and their children vaccinated. The game is informed by the ‘Nepal Little Jab Book’ which presents 6 behavioral insights to encourage people to get the vaccine.
The ‘GET VAXED’ audio game is accessible to 21 million mobile users who are connected to the Nepal Telecommunications (NTC) network by dialing 32100 for free. The audio game was designed using a human-centric approach (HCD), and was field tested with child and youth clubs, visually impaired children, stakeholders, and technical experts.
Pre-launch results of the audio game based on user engagement is exciting, as we already have more than 5110 unique users. Initial Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) show that after engaging in the game, 59.2% are motivated to get the full COVID-19 vaccine shot, 85.6% of users believe that COVID-19 vaccine shots for children can save lives and their future, and 90.5% users have pledged to diffuse rumors and promote evidence-based messaging related to COVID-19 vaccines.
