The interactive sessions facilitated by Gauri Pradhan, Indu Tuladhar and Tarak Dhital discussed the status of child rights legislations and their implementation in Nepal and highlighted the need to prioritize child rights agenda in government plans, policies and programs. The participating lawmakers expressed their commitment to take up child rights issues both in their respective Committees and the Parliament.
Expressing her commitment, Hon’ble Chairperson Roshan Karki, the Parliamentary Women and Social Affairs Committee, said, “As we discussed here, there have been some pressing child rights issues that need to be addressed through legislation. We will form a core group of lawmakers across the Parliament to identify and address gaps in the laws related to child rights, in Nepal.”

During the event, Tara Chettry, Deputy Country Director of Save the Children stated, "It is quite essential to invest on children so that they can significantly contribute to the improvement in the country’s overall governance system and social and economic development. The onus is on the federal, provincial and local governments to make children’s agenda a top priority. Legislators, law implementers and civil society should come together for the promotion, protection and realization of child rights.”
