Pyuthan Municipality endorses Child Protection Policy
Pyuthan Municipality of Province No. 5, on 2 February 2018 has endorsed its child protection policy and child club network/child club facilitation guideline.
This is a landmark move from a local government body in Pyuthan to uphold child rights and protection of children. With the local level election and devolution of power in Nepal, Save the Children worked with the municipality to draft the child protection policy and supported the local government throughout the process.
Ananta BK, Save the Children’s Program Coordinator said, “This has institutionalized child rights at the local government and through this we hope that this policy will guide all decisions and activities for children’s rights.”
Save the Children has been working in Pyuthan since 2009 through its sponsorship project, with a focus on early childhood development, basic education, adolescent development and school heath and nutrition.
